During his long theatre career Oleg Kisselev has been practically researching classical and modern methods of acting and actor education, such as the Stanislavski System, Michael Chekhov’s technique, F.M.Alexander's technique, Meyerhold’s Biomechanics, J. Grotowski's method, Commedia dell'arte, Butoh Theatre (T.Hijikata and K.Ohno). He's distilled the general principles of actor training in order to create his own unique system of exercises connecting movement, dance, voice and acting. His 'Body logic' system's main goal is to achieve maximum connection between the two fundamental components of human nature – physical and psychological. This system liberates actors from the clichéd behavior that blocks spontaneous reactions of the body. It helps actors to return to the freedom, beauty and power of their own body logic.
This method has been practiced for more than thirty years in various theatre schools and was implemented by Oleg in his own performances: A midsummer night's dream by William Shakespeare, Camera obscura by Vladimir Nabokov and Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka (Théâtre Le Groupe de la Veillée, Montréal), The lesson by Eugene Ionesco and Elizavieta Bam by Daniil Kharms (Diving Horse Creation - Théâtre La Chapelle, Montréal), Emily Dickinson (Théâtre La Chapelle-La Demeure, Montréal). Since March 2015, Oleg Kisselev has been running continuous workshop for a group of theatre professionals, students and amateurs in Toronto. His training comprises 3 hours a week. In addition to studies of movement, dance, voice and stage fighting, the training enhances improvisation skills and also develops a better body posture, proper breathing and relaxation techniques. |
