About Theatrus
Theatrus is a Canadian theatre group based in Toronto. We produce, perform, study and teach: drama, acting and language. Theatrus was founded in 2013 by Dmitry Zhukovsky, an acting coach, theatre director, actor and producer and Yulia Rubina, a linguist and communications specialist.
The mandate of Theatrus is to explore cross-disciplinary and cross-cultural spheres. We take theatre as language and language as theatre. At present, when creating our shows and conducting our courses and workshops, we work in English and in Russian. However, we are always open to new languages, new cultures and new approaches. We collaborate with various creative groups and individuals. Connecting people, ideas and cultures, we strongly believe that in the age of mass media and high-tech, theatre – which places a live human being both on stage and in the audience - has a potential to become one of the most refreshing and breathtaking experiences for every single person. |
